Zacapa 23 is a super-premium rum made from a blend of rums aged between 6 and 23 years old. Zacapa has been awarded first place five times in a row at the International Rum Contest *- the only luxury rum in the Rum Hall of Fame. Warm and smooth on the nose with sweet hints of vanilla, honey, dried fruits, smoke and orange peel. Intense, complex and balanced on the palate: vanilla, dark chocolate, nutmeg, raisins, dried fruits, fine oak with a long lasting finish. The complex sweet fruitiness & chocolate flavours of Zacapa, deserve to be appreciated neat or over ice as well in cocktails. Zacapa uses virgin sugar cane honey as a raw material and is aged in altitude to slow the process which uses a Solera ageing system through a series of different casks that previously held American whiskey, Oloroso Sherry and Pedro Ximenez wines. The secret of Zacapa is the slow ageing process that takes place at high altitude (2,300m above sea level) in the cool air of the Guatemala highlands.
